Green building makes energy-saving air conditioners favored

At the beginning of 2013, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing and Construction issued the “Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Green Buildings in China”. Local governments actively supported and introduced policies or subsidies to help the development of local green buildings. Under the guidance of standards and policies, green buildings are developing rapidly. The data shows that in the first half of 2013, 978 green building projects were evaluated nationwide, and the green building area totaled more than 100 million square meters. The green project started from 10 in 2008, from 20 in 2009 to more than 1,000 now. Whether it is from the building area or the number of projects, green buildings have shown a spurt of growth.

The development goals set out in the "Green Building Action Plan" show that in the next two years, China will complete 900 million square meters of new green buildings, which will insert energy-saving and environmentally-friendly air conditioners into the wings of rapid development.

More comprehensive energy efficiency evaluation

On October 1, 2013, the revised energy efficiency standards for inverter household air conditioners were officially implemented. The standard is the first in China to use APF (Annual Energy Consumption Efficiency) indicators to evaluate the energy efficiency of air conditioners, and is concerned by air-conditioning companies and the entire industry. The newly revised energy efficiency standards for inverter household air conditioners have changed the energy efficiency rating, limit value and evaluation index of inverter air conditioners. The standard considers both the cooling capacity of the air conditioner and the heating factor, and the evaluation of the air conditioning performance is more scientific and comprehensive.

On the other hand, the implementation of energy-saving promotion of air-conditioning products has accelerated. In 2012, the energy efficiency standards for fixed-speed air conditioners increased significantly, and the energy efficiency access value increased from 2.6 to 3.2, which is equivalent to eliminating more than 80% of products at one time. The energy efficiency limit value of the modified inverter air conditioner has also been increased from the current 3.0 to 3.9, and the energy efficiency rating has changed from 5 to 3. At present, the energy efficiency standards for heat pump water heaters are still in the process of soliciting opinions and are expected to be introduced in 2014.

Cheng Jianhong, a researcher at the China National Institute of Standardization, said that the APF standard will also be introduced into the energy efficiency standards for fixed-speed air conditioners. The energy efficiency standards for unit air conditioners and heat pump water heaters may also introduce APF indicators in the future. Therefore, how to better adapt to the standard upgrade and respond to the improvement of energy-saving needs has become the focus of the enterprise at this stage.
