New Blow Molding PA Products Applied in Europe

According to reports, GE Advanced Materials has successfully developed a mixture that can replace blown polyamides.

Noryl PPX7115 is a mixture of PPE and PP. It has been used by a European manufacturer to replace the PA6 material for the production of truck compressor intake pipes. GE claims that this material has superior processing properties, higher melt strength and a wider processing temperature range than PA. The characteristics of the material superior to the PA are: no drying; there is no need to limit the next step. Dermot Ainsworth, market manager of Noryl resin products, said, "The elimination of those secondary operations is an extremely important factor."

Different grades of PPX615 have been used to produce sterilized packaging sterilization discs. Typically, the dish is made of wood or metal and is often used in combination with aluminum or plastic laminated food bags. The food is cooked or sterilized at 125°C for 90 minutes - this means that the dish must have good heat resistance. An American dish manufacturer Allpax Products uses this resin instead of glass-reinforced PP. This change in materials brings two major advantages: higher food output; double product life of the dish and cost savings.

Noryl PPX uses a patented synthesis technology to combine two incompatible resins. Material characteristics include: low temperature toughness, creep resistance and chemical stability.
