The original color hi-ficolour

Hi-Fi stands for HighFidelity and is highly realistic. Hi-Ficolour is translated as "original color" and represents a highly realistic color. It is used to copy printing and faithfully reproduce the original color.

Using printing methods, faithful copying of colors is not easy. Because of the general four-color printing replication technology, there are certain limitations, the color gamut range of the reproduction color, the influence of the printing method, the influence of the paper and the ink, plus the need for a full-tone picture of the copying technology, to be turned into half Color pictures can be printed. These factors greatly impair the color gamut of the copied color.

All along, colorists have conducted research to find out the perfect color reproduction method. In offset printing, they added a layer of color to the general four-color printing (C, Y, M, K) to print in five colors; another layer of color was used to print in six colors; even seven colors. print. These extra colors, of course, extend the color gamut of the copied color, but what color is appropriate?

Early in the era of color separation using a plate-making camera, some artistic drawings and portrait photos have been printed in six colors; in addition to C, M, Y, and K, pink and light blue are added to increase the color of green, purple, and skin. .

In experiments and research, it is possible to respond to the color characteristics of the original image. In addition to C, M, Y, K, add other special colors, such as: gray, silver or gold.

Industrial production requires a standardized approach. Pantone has developed a Hexachrome color system, namely C, M, Y, K plus green and orange. Pantone provides a software called HexImage to separate scanned images and then set them. Into the typesetting software such as PageMaker and QuarkXpress, output color separation film. In addition, special machines are required for the drafting, such as a Hi-Fi Jet Printer.

Six-color printing, unless the use of six-color printing press, printing time increases. In addition, the consumption of materials such as paper and ink also increased. Therefore, it is rarely used unless specifically requested by the customer. Moreover, with current technological advances, high-density network cables (eg, 200 lpi, etc.) or other screening methods (eg, FM network, etc.) can be used to achieve general standard four-color printing, which also achieves highly realistic effects.

However, when copying certain special colors, if "colourprint" is used instead of spot color, the six-color color can provide more color effects.
