Asahi Kasei launches natural decomposition plastic wrap

Asahi Kasei Corporation recently developed a new type of cling film made from corn sugar and biodegradable polylactic acid. Asahi Kasei uses its unique technology to maintain good softness even after polylactic acid is made into a film. The company plans to invest more than one billion yen at the end of 2005 to build production facilities at the Suzuka plant in Mie Prefecture, first selling in the European and American regions with higher awareness of environmental protection.
