The Shandong paper industry, which is based on cultural paper, has been gradually expanded to packaging paperboard and newsprint, such as 100,000 tons of kraft liner board paper from Qingdao Haiwang Paper, 100,000 tons of coated kraft cardboard from Sun Paper, and Galaxy. Paper's 200,000 tons of high-strength corrugated paper and Huatai Paper's 160,000 tons of advanced magazine paper. In 2001, the production capacity of coated white paperboard in Shandong Province reached 920,000 tons, 470,000 tons of kraft linerboard and 280,000 tons of high-grade corrugated paper.
In order to change the unreasonable conditions of Shandong's papermaking raw material structure and reduce the need for pollution, in recent years, several paper-making companies, such as Huatai, Sun, and Huazhong, have introduced waste papers of 500 tons/day, 100 tons/day and 50 tons/day respectively. Six sets of deinking equipment, Chenming, Huatai, Foster, Sun, Neptunus, Bohui and other 10 papermaking companies introduced a total of 12 sets of overseas OCC waste paper processing equipment, including daily handling of OCC 400 tons, 330 tons, 250 tons and 100 tons of different processing capacity.
At present, the province with the highest proportion of waste paper is Zhejiang, with waste paper accounting for 76% of the papermaking fiber raw materials, and the second is Guangdong Province, which also exceeds 60%. The waste paper utilization rate in Shandong Province is currently only a little over 30%.
Shandong will become China's third largest waste paper utilization province
Industry insiders predict that by 2005, paper and board production in Shandong Province will reach 5.5 million tons, and the amount of waste paper will reach 2.4 million tons (including domestic waste paper). The utilization rate of waste paper has risen to 44%, which is likely to become the third largest waste paper utilization province in China.
