April 2nd is the International Children's Book Day and the birthday of Danish children's literature master Andersen. Every year, the International Children's Book Festival has a theme. The theme of this year is: "The small is big in a book--the pages are small and big."

On April 2, 1967, the International Children's Book Federation identified the birth of Andersen as "International Children's Book Day." On March 26th, the highest honor award in the field of children's literature in the world - the 2018 International Andersen Award was announced, the Russian illustrator Igor Oleynikov and the Japanese writer Eiko Kadono won Illustrator Award and Writer Award.

The jury believes that the work of Kakuno Koshiko is rich in "sympathy, enthusiasm and wonderful charm", and the text is simple and readable. The female characters she created are always "independent decisions, positive and enterprising" and become role models for girls.

Yokono said: "Imagination is the power that everyone has and is very important to life. I think this power is the real magic."

The writer's award winner, Yokono Kakuno, is a Japanese children's literature writer. The most familiar work of Chinese readers is "The Witch's Express Mail" (the "Witch's Home Delivery" series - in 1989, the famous animation director Hayao Miyazaki adapted it into The movie of the same name.)

Other masterpieces include "The Story of the Pants Captain", "The Thief Brab", "The Fairy Tale of the Little Monsters" (Bai Yang Society), "Please Come to My Apron", and the Japanese Children's Publishing Culture Award, Japan Roadside Stone Literature Award.

For Onikov, the jury pointed out that his style of painting is extremely beautiful. His illustrations can make a page of books "full of life", and his characters are full of vitality and expressiveness. He brought "great Russian vocabulary, style, passion" into his work.

Igor Onikov once said that for him, the biggest compliment of the reader was when he opened a book with his illustrations, he shouted "Ah!".

O'Nekov's style is exquisite, the brush strokes are exquisite, the imagination is very rich, and the elaborate design can be seen everywhere. Then, using the lively composition, the changing visual angle and the color shade conversion, create a multi-level picture, and often let the friends of the size Surprise and admiration in the picture.

His works have been selected in the Italian Bologna Children's Book Illustrator Exhibition, and won the "Best Book of the Year" at the Moscow International Book Fair. Chinese picture book painter Xiong Liang was also shortlisted for the final shortlist of the International Andersen Awards Illustrator Award this year, but regretted that he did not win the prize. In 1990, for the first time, Chinese writers were nominated for the International Andersen Award. Sun Yujun, the author of The Little Buddy, and the painter, Zhao Zhaoming. In the following 26 years, China has been continuously selected by the authors. Until 2016, Chinese children's literature writer Cao Wenxuan won the award and became the first Chinese to win the award.

Xiong Liang, who was unfortunately unsuccessful in the 2018 International Andersen Award, was one of the earliest authors in China who were engaged in the creation of picture books. He was known as the pioneer and mentor of Chinese original picture books. He won the Best Children's Book Award in Taiwan, and recently won the 2017 Chen Bobo International Children's Literature Awards Book (picture book) award for his book "Walking with the Wind".
